Encountering Maryam Anew & Seeing Ourselves
Saturday, November 23, 11:00 am - 1:30 pm ET
This past spring, Pax Christi USA commissioned me to write the reflections for their annual Advent booklet. Grateful for the invitation, I quickly agreed to the project. Putting the words to paper was a more complex matter.
For each reflection, my heart and imagination kindled a spark from the daily readings so I could write about the Season of Waiting. Leaning into my own experiences of waiting in uncertainty and unknowing, the reflections unfolded to form Seeking Wisdom’s Light. I am very proud of this work. It is available for order as a hard copy, or a digital version through Pax Christi USA.
A number of the reflections speak to Maryam, the mother of Jesus, whom I often reference as Our Lady in personal conversations. Using a name uncommon to most of us who speak the English language is an intentional invitation for the reader to pause.
Life, on occasion, invites us to pause. Last week, many of us were halted in our tracks upon learning the outcomes of our national elections. Some of you have reached out to me because of your love and concern for the safety and well-being of persons who dwell on the margins of our society. We are all trying to adjust and prepare for what is unfolding.
On Saturday, November 23, at 11:00 am-1:30 pm ET, I invite women to join me virtually for Encountering Maryam Anew & Seeing Ourselves. The heart of our time together will be spent exploring one of the reflections from Seeking Wisdom’s Light. I will provide a sacred and safe space for us to be present to Maryam, one another, and ourselves in compassion. My hope is that together we may truly encounter Maryam anew and see ourselves in her, and her in us. In doing so, we may be surprised by how the Holy Spirit may inspire us.
Let me know if you want to join us, and I will send the Zoom link.
