Holding A Charge
Months have passed since I have written for Leslye’s Labyrinth. Today, I have a range of thoughts but I am trying to condense them so that I provide what is essential now. I will share more later.
After not driving my vehicle for an extended period of time, I faced the challenge of starting it. I called the 800 number for members of a national vehicle service. Upon his arrival, the service man connected a tool to my battery and the vehicle started. I was advised to drive around my neighborhood for 45 minutes. He also mentioned the possibility of going to one of their facilities to recharge my battery. Not understanding why recharging was necessary, I drove around my neighborhood for 45 minutes. I did as instructed but to no avail. The vehicle would not restart. The charge did not hold.
The following day, I called the 800 number again. This service person connected a device to my battery and my vehicle started. After hearing of the previous day’s experience, he advised me to drive for one hour on the highway. Thinking it made sense, I did as instructed. Again, to no avail. For a second time, the battery did not hold the charge.
On the third day, it was time for a different action. After jump starting the vehicle, I drove to the nearest facility of the service provider where I learned that what was needed was to have my vehicle’s battery fully recharged. This would take two to four hours. In my case, it took four hours. Since having the battery recharged, I have had no problems with the battery holding a charge.
Personally, 2024 was a year that seemed to have drained my battery. The year offered some amazing experiences and Godwinks for me, but more was needed in a practical sense for me to sustain a charge. Consequently, I am taking time to recharge my battery so that I may do what is mine to do.
Following the presidential election of 2024, I held a virtual safe and sacred space for those who were struggling with angst, disbelief and grief. Following the inauguration, I was asked if I would offer such space again. I agreed to do so but then health challenges diverted my plans. I am on my feet again, and feeling strong enough to host a virtual safe and sacred space this week. It is a way for us to work toward holding a charge, individually and collectively.
If you want to participate, let me know so that I can send you the appropriate Zoom link. The virtual safe and sacred space will be available on Wednesday, March 26, 2-4pm MT, 4-6pm ET, and on Saturday, March 29, 9-11 am MT, 11am-1pm ET. Again, reply to this with your preference.
